Premium energy efficient motors from BOGE

In order to offer the highest level of energy efficiency right from the start, all BOGE screw compressors will be equipped with the "Premium Efficiency“ class IE 3 electrical motors from the summer of 2011.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has recently introduced the new standard EN IEC 60034-30 to harmonise international motor efficiencies. This standard divides motors into three efficiency classes - IE1 to IE3 – and regulates the various energy standards for electrical motors across the world. From June 2011, all new motors within the EU must at least meet the efficiency requirements of class IE2.
From January 2015 it will be mandatory within the EU that all new compressors are equipped with the premium efficiency class IE 3 motors. Realising the benefits of this class BOGE has decided from the summer of 2011 to equip all BOGE screw compressors - and a large proportion of Boge piston compressors - with IE 3 motors as standard.
The real incentive is that higher efficiency motors save money. It has been commented that the purchase price of an electric motor is normally less than the cost of its electrical consumption over 30 days. When compressor life-cycle costs are calculated over 10 years the huge benefits and savings are clear to see.
